Degritter Ultrasonic Record Cleaning Machine v1

Degritter is an automatic, ultrasonic record cleaning machine designed and manufactured in Estonia. It is a compact, table-top unit available in either silver or black, and makes use of a somewhat retro mid-century/atomic design language. Degritter is easily one of the most visually appealing record cleaning machines. The front face is clean, with two knobs that also function as push buttons, and a small, round digital display. On the rear of the unit is a removable plastic water tank as well as the AC input/switch and a small SD card port for software updates. The side of the unit also contains a small screw panel containing the removable/replaceable filter. The slot on top of the machine where the record is placed, is wrapped in a soft rubber to prevent scuffing and scratching of the LP.  When the record being washed in the Degritter, it does not typically touch these side walls (unless its badly warped) as the LP is held in place by a mechanism of wheels inside the machine.

    REVIEWS -

Audiophilia, Star Component Award: "In short, the $2990 Degritter is a marvel. It is easy to use, saves time, and cleans better than virtually anything else out there. The level of thought, ease of use, refinement, and sonic results this startup company has packed into this record cleaning machine amazes me, and the fact that they can do all this at $1000 under their nearest competition means they have placed themselves at a fantastic spot in the market. The number of people willing to invest $2990 in a record cleaning machine is naturally going to be limited, but the benefits of a machine like this over a vacuum solution or even a cheaper ultrasonic contraption is readily apparent, and an easy recommendation for anyone with a substantial record collection. Degritter has unleashed my analog recordings and brought them to their full potential. This technology, this machine, is the future, and I’m never going back." - Michael Johnson

Sterephile: "I used the Degritter for longer than a usual review cycle because I wanted to assess its reliability. My months of use suggest that it is reliable, and it's a smooth operator: quiet, glitch-free, and a pleasure to use. Drop in a record, select the program, push the button, and you are good to go. The record oscillates slowly back and forth during the cleaning cycle and then rotates as it dries. Degritter supplies a gauge you can place against a record to help set the water level for a particular record, depending on how close to the label it's cut. A nice feature." - Michael John son

"Almost all the records I inserted over the months came out totally dry—and sparkling clean in ways that vacuuming cannot approach. A small number of records still had a tiny water droplet or two, always on the lead-out groove area. That's "flawless" in my book." - Michael Fremer

The Absolute Sound: "The Degritter was easy to use, has many sophisticated features, appears well built, and delivered on all the promises of ultrasonic LP cleaning. It’s also priced about a thousand dollars below the competition, making it a solid recommendation." - Robert Harley
