Davone Solo Loudspeakers
Davone Solo Loudspeakers
MY TAKE: The gorgeous design esthetic is matched by their exceptional performance. Combine that with meticulous Danish craftsmanship and you have an audiophile quality speaker that is a treat for the senses. Any of the Davone designs are equally at home in a living room, music room or the museum of modern art. - Galen Carol
Davone Solo -
Of simple luxury and elegance, the timeless Solo is a competent floorstander. Whatever the genre, whatever the medium, the resulting sonic picture is open, fluent and involving. Furthermore, the clean lines and smooth curves are not merely for the eye. Tall floorstanders suffer from internal standing waves around 150Hz. The tapered Solo cabinet eliminates these, ultimately leading to a cleaner and faster bass response.
Greater Than the Sum -
The Solo is the first loudspeaker that has been fully developed in our new 60 square meters acoustically treated listening space. Systematic investigations in the controlled environment have led to the next generation of Davone sound. With the top and midrange driver being best in class in their own right, and through detailed amplitude and phase adjustments combined with optimal cabinet placement, the individual drivers deliver more than just the sum of their parts.
Enhanced CAD -
Just like the acoustic design, the Solo also represents the next generation in cabinet construction. Enhanced computer-aided design (CAD) capabilities have made it possible to create a unique design that takes wood bending to the next level. Through bending and twisting, the side panels are stiffer and more irregular. Both enhancements improve the acoustic properties leading to a cleaner sound. A typical example of form follows function.
Hand-built in Denmark -
Most manufacturers shy away from using bend plywood for loudspeaker cabinets. Which is understandable because it may twist and turn in undesired directions, making accurate machining of parts and final assembly difficult. This is not critical in the typical application in furniture. Speaker cabinet construction is a whole other matter though. The production of Solo would not have been possible without our committed design and the extra care of hand build production.
About Davone -
Of rare quality and refinement, Davone has become synonymous with elegance and simple luxury. Drawn from the best of Danish traditions, Davone currently features 7 unique loudspeaker models, all evolved from the same philosophy. With full production and development based in Denmark, a country renowned for its design and acoustics, Davone has produced loudspeakers since 2007. With their unique combination of sound and design, Davone is a pioneer in high-end audio. Davone is the brain-child of MSc Paul Schenkel, an aeronautical engineer with a master's degree in physics, a professional background in acoustics and a deep passion for mid-century design and architecture.
"We are continuously working on improving the sound quality, the design and the combination of these two. These famous words from Massimo Vignelli really resonated with me: "the life of a designer is a life of fight: a fight against the ugliness". Sure, a tad dramatic. But still, Davone is my breath of fresh air in the monochromatic square reality of today.” - Paul Schenkel, Designer
“Davone loudspeakers are all about sound quality. Many days are spent in the listening room to further refine the sound. "We can not let go until we have fully exhausted a new idea.” - Paul Schenkel, Designer
