    MY TAKE:

An excellent treatment, well worth the cost. - Galen Carol

Auric Illuminator completely cleans and polishs the clear polycarbonate surface, allowing the laser to accurately intepret the data on the disc. The ultra-clean surface insures that the laser light easily penetrates and reflects back to the photo detector, without scatter, thus allowing more accurate timing of the retrieved signal. The resulting benefit is an improved “signal to noise” ratio, which increases the accuracy of data interpolation.

Auric Illuminator eliminates static charge on the disc surface. How does this occur, and why is it important? As a disc rotates inside the player, a static charge develops on the surface. The static charge continues to build, finally discharging into the air surrounding the disc. The charge/discharge cycle causes the disc to subtlety tilt or wobble, making tracking more difficult. Though redundant codes can replace much of missing data, the disruption in timing accuracy causes the errors to become audible. Buffering or re-clocking the data cannot totally correct timing errors or jitter.

The complete kit includes everything you'll need, including Auric Illuminator liquid, polishing cloths and a special felt tip marker for treating the inner and outer edges of the disc. Application is an easy two-step process. The first step reduces ambient light and infrared light from entering the disc through the edges. This is accomplished using the special infrared absorbing pen to blacken the inside and outer edges of the disc. The second step is the application of the Auric Illuminator liquid, which cleans and polishes the surface, and reduces any residual electrostatic charge on the surface of the disc.

    REVIEWS:

”It’s two CD tweaks in one, with a black felt pen that you apply to the edges and a gooey fluid that you spread on playing surface and buff off with the supplied cloth. The fluid is claimed to improve the optical properties of the surface. Maybe so, since the treated CDs have greater focus and clarity (sonically, that is).” - Stereophile

"Originally developed as an advanced optical resolution enhancer for the U.S. military, Auric Illuminator CD treatment improves the audible and visible playback quality of all optical discs." - 6Moons.com
