PS Audio
Power Conditioning Equipment and Power Amplifiers

The new Power Plant Series of line conditioners take a new approach to the old problem of power line filtration. These devices convert the AC wall current into DC and then reconstruct AC to power your components. Also unique, their ability to alter line frequency. The normal 60Hz (in the US, 50Hz in Europe and Asia) can be raised in 10Hz steps to 120 Hz, resulting in increased depth and taught ness. Currently available is the P300 (pictured here), capable of supplying 300 watts of ultra clean power.
        Multiwave
circuitry for the Power Plant Series allows the user to reap the benefits of raising the line frequency, with none of the drawbacks.
In earlier models, raising the line frequency paid dividends in the form of cleaner high frequencies. However, raising it too much tended to lean things out. In addition, transformers on many components would resonate with the increases. Multiwave is said to allow the listener to raise the frequency, without the low frequency leanness. Price, $1245.00, with fan and Multiwave.

For those who need more current availability, consider the P600, with twice the capability of the P300. With the ability to provide up to 720 watts of output, the P600 is just the ticket for more demanding applications. $2395.00.

Don't want to spend what a Power Plant costs? Consider the PS Audio Ultimate Outlet. For $299.00 you get a balanced power coupler that can both protect and enhance your system.
The Ultimate Outlet reduces noise by up to 50dB, while protecting against surges and spikes. We have found the Ultimate Outlet particularly effective with video gear, especially display devices such as front or rear projectors and CRT TV's. A high current 20A version for large power amplifiers or projectors sells for $399.00.

For more elaborate systems, consider the PS Audio Power Director, which contains four Ultimate Outlets, and performs switching and network command functions required by today's sophisticated, highly demanding custom home A/V environments. The Power Director is especially unique in enabling customers to preset the input voltage before any protection circuitry is activated, and adjust the delay time before the unit resets itself and powers back up. These parameters are of course user adjustable, or you may choose to use the factory default settings. $1495.00

HCA-2 Hybrid Class-A Amplifier

Just arrived, the new HCA-2 Hybrid Class-A Amplifier. The novel design combines a balanced JFET input stage with a digital class D switching digital output stage. The analog stage was designed by PS Audio's Paul McGowan, the digital circuitry is the work of John Levreault of Orvelle Technologies. Thanks to the digital output stage, the compact chassis runs cool to the touch, yet produces 150 watts into 8 Ohms, 225 into 4 and 275 watts into 2 ohms.
We'll be putting the HCA-2 through its paces shortly, and will report back soon on its abilities.
Price $1695.00
