Audio Physic
Loudspeakers
Founded over twenty years ago, German
manufacturer Audio Physic is known for their unique and innovative
designs and incredible performance. Add to that the elegant
design, immaculate
construction and impeccable finish quality obvious on all
Audio Physic models, and you've got a
speaker that is a feast for both the eyes and ears.
The
Company's philosophy has become their motto: "No loss of
fine detail". That is indeed an accurate of Audio Physic speakers. They capture
nuance and subtlety, but never cross over the line and become
analytical. They accomplish this task with careful design and
selection of every component. From cabinet design to
fabrication to drivers and crossovers, every element is
carefully researched.
Quality is evident from the moment
you lay eyes on the beautiful cabinet work. Touch the
surface and you'll feel the satin-smooth finish of the
carefully finished hardwood. Their attention to detail is
remarkable.
There are a handful of contenders on
my shortlist of the very best imaging speakers available,
and Audio Physic is close to the top. When
properly set up, these speakers simply cease to exist. They
leave behind an almost holographic sound field that gives
one the sense of being able to step into the original venue.
The sound is not just dimensional, it borders on enveloping. Quite addictive!
The Audio Physic range is broad, with
offerings from $1250 to $69995, there is a model to fit most
every budget.
Bottom line, these are incredible
loudspeakers and ones you do not want to miss.
Yara Evolution
This
two-way floor-stander offers surprising performance at just
$1995 per pair. The Yara
Evolution shares much of the advanced technology
and design principles used in the larger Audio Physic
loudspeakers. Performance is outstanding. The cabinet
is finished in real wood veneer, unusual for a speaker at this
price. Fit and finish and attention to detail are first
rate - just what you'd expect from Audio Physic.
A Yara center channel, subwoofer and mini monitors are
available to partner the Yara Evolution for home theatre
applications.

Spark
Don't let
the diminutive stature fool you, the
svelte
Audio Physic Spark performs far beyond it's modest
dimensions. The soundstage is positively huge, offering the
holographic presentation that has made Audio Physic elite
among speakers. The beautiful and graceful cabinet design
has purpose - the sidewalls are non parallel, dramatically
reducing internal standing waves.
Top quality drivers and crossover components compliment the
outstanding construction quality and fastidious German
attention to detail.

"The overwhelming majority of speakers possess some
degree of 'character,' for good or ill, which gives the
reviewer something to write about. On this occasion though,
the standard of neutrality is so high, there's little to
criticize. More than most, the Spark seems to 'disappear,'
acoustically speaking, leaving just the music spread out
between and around the speakers. Imaging is beautifully
precise and well ordered, with tendency to 'hug' the
speakers. It also delivered good depth perspectives and a
pleasant airy spaciousness that was particularly effective
with naturally miked classical material." Hi-Fi Choice -

"We found ourselves listening to the first act of Rosini's
Barber of Seville on a Philips recording by The Academy of
St. Martin in the Field, directed by Sir Neville Mariner.
The imaging as well as the wide soundstage achieved by the
loudspeaker extends far beyond what you might have expected
when taking into account the "small" dimensions of the
Spark. Just listening to first act gave us some idea of what
the loudspeaker is capable of in terms of voice reproduction
where it radiated a high amount of vitality and delight in
playing. The Baritone of Count Almaviva came through
superbly and was rendered elegantly with all its richness
and depth in our listening room. The crazy melee and
swelling of voices which accompanies the musicians' retreat
at the end of the first act was reproduced with unbelievable
realism and dynamics. If you shut yours eyes you could
literally feel the haste with which the actors noisily left
the stage."

Tempo
Now in its fourth
generation, the all new Tempo offers outstanding performance will enhance the style of any room, while filling
it with wonderful music.
The
beautiful and graceful cabinet design has purpose. The
sidewalls are non parallel, dramatically reducing internal
standing waves. Internally the extensive bracing insures
incredible rigidity further reduce vibration and resonance.
The dual woofers in the
three-way design are arranged in a unique "push-push"
configuration offers outstanding bass response in an
elegantly narrow cabinet.
“The Tempo plays any kind of music from heavy rock to solo
folk performances via speech and chamber music, with equal
aplomb and without ever letting its own character impose
itself on the sound. Indeed, attempting to define its own
character is the hardest part of trying to review this
speaker, just because ‘character’ in this case is just so
downright elusive.”
Hi-Fi+
" From the very first bars of music, the fine
reproduction of detail was vibrantly apparent. There was
very little, if any, sound of loudspeaker cabinets, and
stereo imagery was so clear and precise it was almost
holographic. It wasn't just your average everyday detail -
the kind that speaks volumes about the musicianship and
acoustics captured in recordings.
Summing up, the Temp is a superb loudspeaker - a real
achievement - capable of almost holographic stereo and
reproducing subtle musical detail." Hi-Fi News

Scorpio
Introduced in 2005, the Scorpio sets a new standard for
loudspeakers in this price range. Competing with far more
expensive products, the Scorpio offers tremendous value for
the price. It’s all here, the unbelievable soundstage,
refinement, natural timbre and tight and tuneful bottom end.
Four
seven-inch high performance side firing woofers produce
powerful bass without overhang or boom.
"This added up to a loudspeaker so
excellent that even at the end of my time with the Scorpios
I still found myself constantly mistaking stereo sounds for
real sounds. Add in a truly elegant shape and superb
cabinetry, and you have a loudspeaker that sets a new,
higher standard for the price range. If you are anywhere
this price range, you need to go hear these. And even if you
are planning on spending considerably more, especially if
you have a medium to medium large room, go hear them too as
the Scorpios are not just great for the money, they are just
plain great". Todd Warnke, Enjoy the Music, Superior
