    The HYDRA TRITON v3 is Shunyata Research’s reference power distributor. It contains patented and proprietary technologies that deliver state-of-the-art performance in home entertainment systems. The HYDRA TRITON is also used by many of the top recording studios worldwide. Many of the audio industry’s most prestigious equipment manufacturers and top reviewers also use the HYDRA TRITON as their reference power distribution system. The HYDRA TRITON v3 represents a major performance advancement over the previous generation TRITON v2.  It includes several technological advancements including the patent-pending QR/BB™ technology introduced in our DENALI Series power distributors. New CCI™ v3 Filters improve component-to-component noise isolation performance.  The performance improvements of the TRITON v3 are extraordinary in terms of both sound and visuals.

     

    TRITON v3 FEATURES -


    ISOLATION ZONES -
    An AC duplex consists of two outlets. Each duplex has a dedicated CCI™ filter that reduces noise from the components that are connected to it. For best performance, connect each component to a separate duplex if there are four components or less. Group the components by function, if there are more than four components. For example: Connect a DAC and transport to Zone 1, the preamp to Zone 2 and two amplifiers to Zone 3.


    QR/BB -
    The QR/BB is unique in that it provides a local reserve of energy, or Coulomb charge, that mitigates the inductive reactance of the AC power line without using coils, transformers, or capacitors. The QR/BB acts as an instantaneous energy reserve when placed in-line with an AC power supply.


    KPIP PROCESSING -
    Kinetic Phase Inversion Process is a processing technique that significantly reduces the need for burn-in and cryogenic treatment in the Triton v3. Only a small number of parts are treated cryogenically thanks to KPIP.


    CGS GROUNDING SYSTEM -
    The TRITON v3 includes the exclusive Chassis Grounding System (CGS). The ‌CGS (‌‌Chassis Grounding System) is an internal ground-buss that uses patented NIC™ technology to reduce ground plane noise. ‌‌CGS provides a common grounding point and extends the noise reduction capability of the power conditioner’s internal NICs to other electronic components. ‌‌CGS helps to minimize inter-component voltage differences between component chassis and may reduce the hum associated with ground loops.  It also lowers chassis ground noise using Shunyata Research’s patented NIC™ technology. 


    DTCD™ DESIGNED (Dynamic Transient Current Delivery) -
    The TRITON v3 was designed using the DTCD™ measurement analyzer.  DTCD™ Analysis is a technique that measures instantaneous current through low impedance electrical conductors and contacts.  We use it to optimize the design, specification and construction of parts and materials to ensure maximum current delivery performance.


    CCI™ NOISE REDUCTION -
    Traditional power conditioners are designed to block noise coming in from outside the home but do not address the noise that is generated by the electronic component’s themselves. In fact,most conditioners reflect noise back into other components connected to the power conditioner.  CCI™ (Component-to-Component Interference ) is one of the most significant but often overlooked aspects to power system performance. The Shunyata Research designed CCI™ filter consists of a proprietary multi-stage filter that reduces RFI and power supply generated interference.
     

    NIC™ NOISE REDUCTION -
    NIC™ (Noise Isolation Chamber) is a patented technology that reduces high frequency power line noise. NICs™ use a non-reactive ferroelectric substance that actually absorbs high frequency noise. This allows HYDRA power distributors to reduce noise without any of the negatives associated with conventional power conditioner designs. ~ Patent US 8,658,892 ~


    CopperCONN™ OUTLETS -
    All commercial grade connectors and virtually all audiophile grade connectors are made from a brass or bronze base metals. Some audiophile grade connectors may get a plating of nickel, silver, gold or rhodium that is only a few millionths of an inch thick. The Shunyata Research CopperCONN™ is constructed using solid, high purity, oxygen free copper as the base metal with a flash coating to protect the copper from oxidation. The CopperCONN™ outlets and connectors are designed to provide superior grip strength and contact integrity. This contributes to a measurable improvement in DTCD™ (Dynamic Transient Current Delivery) performance and a correspondingly obvious difference in audible performance.


    ZPP-DS Distribution Buss -
    The ZPP-DS significantly reduces the daisy-chained wires, terminal strips and terminal connectors found within common power conditioners. The power outlets, electrical terminals and main electrical buss are all unified into a single OFC copper buss that dramatically improves DTCD™.


    VTX™ CONDUCTORS -
    Shunyata Research’s exclusive VTX™ conductors are virtual tubes. The core of the conductor is completely hollow, electrically, so that all of the current travels through the circumference of the conductor eliminating skin effects and random eddy currents through the conductor. The VTX™ conductors are produced with CDA-101 copper which is the highest purity copper available.


    HYDRAULIC ELECTROMAGNETIC BREAKER -
    Common power conditioners use fuses or thermal breakers for over current protection. The problem is that these devices cause voltage drops, increased contact impedance, thermal noise, excessive heat generation and current limiting effects when heavily loaded. The TRITON v3 uses a more advanced solution called a hydraulic electromagnetic breaker that can operate right up the to the maximum current level without the limitations of fuses or thermal breakers.


    VIBRATION MANAGEMENT -
    Shunyata Research recognizes that vibration control is important to overall performance in our power distribution products. Our power distributor chassis’ are made with heavy gauge steel not plastic or thin wall sheet metal. Additionally, we have designed our own vibration dampening materials that measurably reduce vibration through the chassis.  Shunyata Research has also developed vibration absorbing gaskets that isolate the AC outlets from the chassis in the reference TRITON v3 power distributor.

     


    SSF-50 STAINLESS STEEL ISOLATION FOOTERS -
    The SSF-50 feet, also available as an upgrade for other Hydra products, are milled from solid blocks of high- grade stainless steel and an energy absorbing polymer isolator. The Triton v3's chassis is optimized to dampen vibration. The SSF-50 Stainless Steel Feet eliminate the need to place the Triton v3 on a dedicated shelf or special optimized stand.

     


    Trivial” Terminals and Connectors -
    There are some parts that are considered miscellaneous and trivial by some engineers and designers. Examples would be the small ring terminals and spades that are used to connect a wire to a switch terminal. Our research has shown that these insignificant parts can be detrimental to DTCD and can adversely affect sonic quality. Therefore, Shunyata Research actually designs and makes a wide variety of these small parts. Some are made with specific metals and platings and others have unique application specific designs. This is just a small example of the extreme lengths that will go in the pursuit of superior performance for our products.

    Triton v1:
    "I'm using the Triton direct now directly into the wall (via an old extra long Shunyata Anaconda 20 amp cord) and it is even more miraculous. Every darn image is locked in place outside the speakers with more texture and placement information in all dimensions. Just beautiful controlled bass, no more abrasion in the highs (but no frequency limitations of any kind, in fact the bass is a bit deeper but with no thickness or boom). Everything in the whole gestalt I look for in the sound of a speaker or whole system is way improved. The Triton is just brilliant. Everyone who really cares about the sound of their system should get one. I never say anything unequivocally about a component, because it's always a matter of taste or maybe synergy, but I'm pretty confident about this. (I tried to be humble here, but just can't.     "OMG, I hooked up the Triton in a quick manner chained with my old Vray2 (Vray to wall, Triton to Vray, all components into Triton) and it immediately transformed the sound immensely! With my eyes closed I would think I had new speakers. Tight controlled bass (that had been slightly flabby), MUCH rounder, more developed images with beautiful texture.
    The whole soundscape has much more depth even though my monitor speaker are close to the wall. A problem I had was that I was constantly moving my chair or head side to side because the soundfield would sometimes collapse to the right or left (I have no balance control on my preamp, but I find balance controls usually do more harm than good anyway, like tone controls), and, miraculously, something I was not expecting, the Triton seems to fix that. Unbelievable.
    I've had a number of power conditioners before and the affects were either subtly very good or they did harm (like a forward sound from re-generators, or muddy bass when a power amp was plugged into them).
    The Triton is not subtle. It is just plain great. Thanks again."
