MY TAKE:  No other speaker manufacturer on the planet has received more praise from audiophile reviewers and listeners around the world than Golden Ear Technologies. And not just one or two models, but every single offering in their broad line up is a winner. Hands down, one of the most high-value speaker lines available today. – Galen Carol

    Triton Towers Overview -

The Triton Series Towers are high-performance loudspeakers, with the top three models including a built-in powered subwoofer. All the Triton Towers are engineered for superb performance in both high quality two channel stereo systems as well as in multi-channel home theater and music systems. Their sleek, elegantly curved and tapered design is not only gorgeous but is important from a performance perspective as well. Performance-wise, the Triton Towers all deliver boxless three-dimensional imaging, which reviewers have hailed as "mystical", "magical" - and, best summed up by the dramatic, "had us believing that the entire surface of the front wall was covered with speakers.". Likewise, the powerful, deep subwoofer bass blends perfectly with the silky smooth, utterly transparent midrange and high frequencies, putting many dramatically more expensive speakers to shame.

The powered subwoofer sections in each Triton One, Two+ and Three+ incorporate a high power GoldenEar ForceField digital amplifier. The amplifier’s DSP design not only yields extremely linear and low distortion response, but also dynamically controls operating parameters for optimum performance. The amp drives up to three 5" x 9" front-mounted quadratic subwoofer bass drivers which are coupled to multiple side-mounted quadratic planar infrasonic bass radiators. The result is awe-inspiring bass, which delivers both musical subtlety as well as room-shaking authority. The advantages of building the subwoofers into the Tritons are many. First, of course, this eliminates the need for additional subwoofer boxes in the room. But more important are the performance advantages. By engineering the subwoofer as an integral part to the speaker, we get far superior integration and blending than can be achieved with separate subwoofers, even when using two. The two subwoofers in a pair of Tritons couple better to the air in the room, helping to better deal with the room's eigenmodes and smooth out response. Of course, the dual subwoofers are also intrinsically more powerful and couple together synergistically for more truly exceptional bass.

The hallmark of all GoldenEar speakers, the Triton Towers all utilize our High-Velocity Folded Ribbon (HVFR™) tweeter design. The HVFR tweeter propagates sound waves and moves the air by squeezing it with its accordion-like pleated diaphragm, rather than pushing it as conventional drivers do. Greater efficiency, lower distortion, improved dynamics and superbly detailed sound are the result of this amazing technology. And every Triton Tower utilizes our amazing spider-leg, cast-basket mid/bass drivers with proprietary computer optimized cone design that assures smooth, extended response.

The Triton Tower’s striking, but harmoniously minimalist design, can fit nicely into a great variety of decors while going almost unnoticed. Their sleek, narrow baffle, sophisticated look also helps the speakers create truly magnificent 3D imaging with tremendous depth, height and width that extends well beyond the loudspeakers themselves. As with all GoldenEar speakers, development work is conducted at our Arnprior, Canada engineering facility utilizing our full-size anechoic chamber, which is an exact duplicate of the chamber at the NRC in Ottawa Canada, in combination with intense critical listening.

The Triton Towers are all beautifully finished with an elegant black designer cloth, piano-black base and top cap.

    Triton Two+ Tower –

GoldenEar’s Triton Two Tower clearly set the audio world on its proverbial ear with extraordinary sound quality, elegant styling and previously unimaginable value. It has earned an incredible series of rave reviews and industry accolades from around the world — including more than a few Speaker of the Year and Audio Product of the Year honors and awards. "Listening with them paralleled previous encounters with no-holds-barred speakers - ones priced upwards of $50,000.", raved Al Griffin of Sound & Vision.

The sleek, 48" tall Triton Two+ is newly updated to now incorporate many of the new technologies and refinements developed for the Triton One, including: a fully balanced crossover design, high-end film capacitors, redesigned midrange/upper-bass drivers, and a reprogrammed DSP. Its built-in subwoofer section is powered by a 1200 watt GoldenEar ForceField digital amplifier driving two 5" x 9" front-mounted quadratic subwoofer bass drivers coupled to dual opposing side-mounted, inertially-balanced, 7" x 10" quadratic planar infrasonic bass radiators. The two 4-1/2" spider-leg cast-basket midrange/upper bass drivers, which incorporate GoldenEar’s proprietary Multi-Vaned Phase Plug (MVPP™) design, are housed in dual discreet chambers arranged in a D’Appolito array surrounding GoldenEar’s extraordinary High-Velocity Folded Ribbon (HVFR™) tweeter design. The Triton Two's dynamic, effortless, you-are-there clarity will almost literally put the live performance or action right into your home, or conversely, put you into the concert hall or the live action on the screen.

    REVIEWS:

Stereophile – “The Triton One, Stereophile's 2015 Joint Loudspeaker of the Year, is one of my favorite speakers. At $4999.98/pair, it represents a comparative bargain in its class, but the price may still be higher than many audiophiles are comfortable with. Those folks would likely be very happy with the $3499.98/pair Triton Two+. And if you're one of those rare audiophiles who have yet to hear any of GoldenEar's Triton models, I suggest that you give the Triton Two+ a listen. You may find yourself gobsmacked.”  -Robert Deutsch

Sound & Vision – “GoldenEar Technology has quoted many reviewers (including yours truly) commenting that GoldenEar speakers sound as good as or better than speakers costing three times (or whatever) as much—a comment that justifiably annoys some people, who ask, “Really? Which ones?” That’s a difficult question to answer because there are so many factors that go into the value of a speaker, more than just sound and price, including cosmetic design, cabinet finish, size, placement requirements, application, power requirements, subwoofer or no subwoofer, etc. That’s not a cop-out. It’s simply a fact. I think the problem is that (in my case, anyway) I’ve been lazy and have taken the easy way of trying to convey my feelings about the value of GoldenEar speakers. What I should have said then—and what I emphatically say now about the Triton Two+ speakers—is that the sound quality is so good that GoldenEar’s speakers would still be highly recommended even if they cost three times as much. The fact that they don’t is one more reason why they are so damn impressive.” – Darry Wilkinson

Home Theater Shack – “The Triton Two+ Tower is a world-class speaker that performs well beyond its price point, delivering GoldenEar’s sound to perfection. Consider, for a moment, that its retail price lands a pair in your home for a tad under $3500 ($1749 each, MSRP). That’s quite a small price to pay for high-end design and devilishly killer performance. It’s a total category buster, possessing the ability to deliver in ways that direct price-point competitors have a hard time touching.

“When you hear the Triton Two+, it’s easy to assume that uber-expensive equipment is required to fuel the show. This is primarily driven by the fact that the speaker sounds amazingly rich and dynamic. If anything, my demo experience has proven the exact opposite to be true. While not cheap, my reference rig consists of widely available equipment totaling $3500 in cost. I believe this is exactly the type of gear (plus or minus a few hundred dollars) that potential Triton buyers will likely have on hand. Huddle together and cheer, folks, because the Triton Two+ can thrive and deliver with quality gear that’s within the realm of financial reason.

Having the Triton Two+ Towers in my dedicated room was a total joy ride. The itch that GoldenEar gave me at CEDIA has been thoroughly scratched by the speaker’s buttery smooth bass drivers, controlled and neutral midrange, and elegantly detailed high frequency capability. Truth be told, the Triton Two+ Towers are a sonic force that your ears deserve to hear. They easily receive my strong stamp of approval – highly recommended.” – Todd Anderson

Home Theater Review – “It's hard to review a GoldenEar speaker without sounding like a fanboy. I fully acknowledge that, and I've been on the receiving end of my fair share of angry comments to that effect. I simply can't hide my enthusiasm when a speaker does pretty much exactly what I want it to do, though. The Triton Two+ delivers incredible depth, palpable detail, exceptional neutrality (especially in the midrange frequencies), and rich, ample, tactile bass that's as musical as it is muscular. What more could you want?

“Well, I suppose you could always ask for more SPL, and for that there's the Triton One. If you don't have the room to really let the Triton One loose, though, the Triton Two+ is the next best thing (or maybe the next better thing considering its price). It's everything I love about the Triton One--the detail, the transparency, the depth of its soundstage, and the dynamics--scaled down to a size that better fits my home and my lifestyle.” – Dennis Berger

Home Theater HiFi – “In stereo music applications, the Triton Two+ pair exhibit outstanding sonic attributes, such as a high degree of transparency, detail-rich dynamics, and vivid imaging, which can easily rival speakers above this price range. While no product is perfect and their sonic characteristics may not satisfy everyone’s taste, there is no question that these speakers set the performance bar very high by any standard, so high that it is almost untouchable in their price class. Moreover, credit goes to the versatile Triton Two+ with their highly dynamic sound, capable of producing full-range bass in the TritonCinema five-speaker system for an impactful yet refined home-theater surround performance. Highly recommended!” – Yongki Go
