    MY TAKE:

Great sounding DAC from an outstanding company! - Galen Carol

The Bryston BDA-2 builds on the incredibly popular BDA-1 DAC, adding dual 32-bit DAC chips and an asynchronous 24-bit/192kHz USB input.

The BDA-2 features fully discrete, proprietary class-A analog circuits and two independent linear power supplies, one each for the analog and digital sections. Inputs include USB, RCA and BNC coaxial, TosLink, and AES/EBU, while both balanced XLR and single-ended RCA outputs are available. The input signal is re-clocked and re-sampled to reduce jitter.

    REVIEWS:

"The Bryston BDA-2 is a very fine outboard DAC. It improves upon the BDA-1 in distortion, and adds an asynchronous USB input to be used for playing music with a digital output to the DAC. A few years ago, you could not get this performance at $5,000, so at $2,395, this DAC is a no brainer for consideration." - Secrets of Hone Theater and High Fidelity

“… I found the crowning achievement of the Bryston BDA-2 can be described in the simplest of terms: It makes the best of every recording you play through it.” “I have never enjoyed the Music More, and have never heard more in the recording. I cannot think of higher praise, nor can I imagine living without the Bryston BDA-2.” – TAS

“If you keep up with developments in digital audio, you already know that today’s best will eventually give way to tomorrow’s better. Okay, but this is not just a case of next year’s new Chevy model. Bryston has taken advantage of newer technologies to produce an audibly improved DAC.  How does it differ sonically from the already highly regarded BDA-1 (which thankfully will remain in the product line)? To my veteran ears, the BDA-2 provides a greater sense of space, better exposure of inner details, and, man, oh man, tighter, more palpable bass. Regardless of the provenance of the sound source, I got an honest presentation of what was already there in a way that I do not typically associate with digital music files. Dare I mention that the BDA-2 gave me more than a hint of the analog world that audiophiles worship?” - Blu-Ray Definition

“This is a very successful device nicely showing what really matters to the people involved in recording studios and on stage, and also having contact with the other side of the "glass" – the end users. A superbly equipped and built DAC that will serve its owner for many, many years.” – High Fidelity, Poland"The Bryston digital duo of the BDP-2 and BDA-2 offered up a rock solid and revealing presentation. With excellent dynamic snap, astoundingly full and fit bass, and plenty of resolution revealing of the most your recordings have to offer, Bryston's dynamic duo pack a lot of musical punch." - Michael Lavorgna, Audio Stream
